"Its Own Place" is a horror story in which a traveler’s entire reality begins to unravel after encountering an occult ritual. The final three stories in the book are all from the same setting: "Mister Blue Sky," in which an emotionally scarred hero and her friends go up against a quirky magical menace with the help of a famous otherworld champion, "The Man Comes Around," in which unfortunate hikers are caught up in the battle between an alien scientist and the villainous Covenant, and "Misfits and Mistakes," which begins in the midst of an alien invasion, with competing factions of super-powered beings struggling to claim one powerful but unpredictable resource.
